Congress approves that pre-professional and professional practices count as work experience

The Congress of the Republic approved this December 17 the substitute text of Bill 159 that promotes the recognition of the pre-professional and professional internships as part of the work experience of a college student. In this way, graduates will have support that can prove their knowledge in certain areas in which they will develop in the future.

This decision is made due to the fact that more and more companies request experience in jobs, without allowing the student or recent graduate the opportunity to start their path as a professional with ease. Most of the internships are unpaid, but Parliament took a step that will benefit the university population after joint approval.

There were 112 votes in favor, one abstention from the Congresswoman Janeth Rivas from Peru Libre and none against those who decided to approve this standard, which from now on will recognize pre-professional and professional internships carried out for a period of no less than three months as work experience, either in public or private institutions.

Thus, upon successful completion of the university degree, young people will have a workforce for their applications to different companies without having any disadvantage or limitation that may separate them from free competition when applying for a position.

On the other hand, Bill 1008 was also approved, which authorizes the supplementary credit in the Public Sector Budget for Fiscal Year 2021, whose objective is to reactivate the country economically.
