More than 3 million containers have moved through the Guayaquil Port Terminal (TPG) in the last six years, with an annual average of 500,000 TEUS. This was shown by the entity in the latest figures after the closure of 2023. According to Luisenrique Navas, its CEO, in that year the transfer of containers recorded a significant increase, from 487,904 containers in 2022 to 507,223 in 2023.
TPG also pointed out that last year 388 ships of various drafts docked, and in recent years it has received large vessels up to 370 meters in length. “TPG has efficiently served large vessels thanks to our operational capacity, advanced technology and team of highly qualified professionals with extensive experience,” said Navas.
According to TPG, it has moved more than 3 million containers in the last six years.
According to the terminal, the top sellers were bananas, shrimp, wood, cocoa, canned tuna and mining concentrate. The main destinations were the countries of Asia, Latin America and Europe.
Navas pointed out that one of the keys to the terminal’s service is flexibility, since they adapt to the requirements of each client, and as part of the improvement of services, he indicated that future investments will be focused on technology and automation.
Plans are focused on the acquisition of new equipment, both for yards and warehouse maintenance. In addition, they plan to expand connection capacities with clean energy, which is part of the sustainability policy promoted by TPG.
