The death of a family member is a difficult moment to face not only emotionally, but also financially; Therefore, people who are affiliated with the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) They can access a financial funeral benefit of up to S/1,000.

The objective is for the amount to be used to cover funeral expenses, and thus somewhat alleviate the great economic burden that the loss of a loved one means for the family. In the following note, we detail the different amounts that are delivered depending on the case and how you can request it.

What is the amount that SIS provides if your family member dies?

In the event of the death of an SIS insured, the financial funeral benefit varies depending on the age of the deceased. For deaths or stillbirths, as well as deceased newborns, the amount is S/350. For those who leave between 29 days and less than 12 years, the aid reaches S/700. Finally, for deceased persons aged 12 and older, the maximum amount is S/1,000.

This support covers various concepts related to burial such as coffin, funeral chapel, shroud, right to cremation (under family authorization), niche and transfer of the deceased.

The requirements to access the financial benefit for burial from the SIS

To access this benefit, some key requirements must be followed.

  • The Reimbursement Request, found HERE, must be completed and signed by the deceased’s borrower.
  • Proof of original payment for funeral services, certified copy of the death certificate, copy of the death certificate and affidavit of expenses are required.
  • In cases of cremation, the corresponding authorization must be presented.

How to request the financial benefit for funeral from the SIS?

The process is divided into the following steps to streamline management.

  • First, go to a health office within 60 calendar days after the death of the insured.
  • Subsequently, present the necessary documents for verification. It is important to note that you have a period of 2 business days to make corrections in case of observations.
  • Once the application has been submitted, you can follow the status of the process online, entering the information of the member and the borrower.
  • Finally, when the payment is available, you have 9 months to collect it at any Banco de la Nación agency.
