EsSalud provides three subsidies to help its policyholders at specific times so they can have a financial lifeline to face their new living conditions. These bonuses can be requested in case of maternity, breastfeeding or incapacity for work. The amount in each one is calculated differently.

Breastfeeding allowance: what amount is provided?
The breastfeeding subsidy offers economic support of S/820, intended for the mother of the newborn of a policyholder. In the case of multiple births, this amount is paid for each live newborn, representing significant support for the initial care of the baby.
What are the requirements to apply for the breastfeeding subsidy?
- Three consecutive or four non-consecutive months of contribution, during the six months prior to birth.
- Employment relationship at the time of the contingency.
- Registration of the infant as a beneficiary.
- In the case of uninsured mothers, they must be registered with EsSalud.
- The application can be submitted within six months from the maximum postpartum period.
Maternity allowance: the amount awarded
The maternity allowance is an amount to compensate for lost earnings during the period of giving birth and caring for the newborn. This subsidy extends for 98 days beginning 49 days before the expected delivery date.
The amount is calculated based on the average daily remuneration of the last 12 calendar months prior to the month in which the contingency begins, multiplied by the number of days of medical leave.
Requirements to access maternity benefit
- Three consecutive or four non-consecutive months of contributions in the previous six months.
- Employment relationship at the beginning and during the subsidy.
- Having had an employment relationship in the month of conception.
- Special regime insured women and independent fisherwomen must pay the contribution for the month of conception.
Temporary disability allowance: what amount is provided?
He temporary disability allowance seeks to compensate for the economic loss resulting from inability to work due to health problems. You will be able to use the subsidy from the 21st day of disability, with a maximum period of 11 months and 10 consecutive days.
The amount is determined based on the average daily earnings of the last four months prior to the month of onset of disability. If the holder has been insured for less than four months, the average will be given based on the membership time.
Requirements to apply for temporary disability subsidy
- Three consecutive or four non-consecutive months of contribution in the six months prior to the start of the disability.
- Independent fishing insured persons must have two consecutive contributions or in the six months prior to the disability.
- In case of an accident, membership is sufficient.
