The Committee for the Economic and Tax Regime is expecting a statement from Chief State Attorney Diana Salazar on the urgent bill on savings and monetization of economic resources to finance the fight against corruption.

The president of the legislative committee, Nathaly Farinango (ADN), said that on Sunday, January 28, she hopes to approve the report for the first reading, but will wait for the Attorney General, Diana Salazar, to present her observations on shortening the deadlines for heritage research. To this end, the commission hopes to meet this Thursday at 08:00.

Farinango defended the proposal of the Executive Committee which, in his opinion, wants to make public procurement transparent and prevent the outflow of money to launder assets, and also in matters of confiscation of assets shorten the terms from twelve to three months for the asset investigation procedure. thereby facilitating the return of illegally acquired property in favor of Ecuadorians.

As for confiscation of property, the ADN lawmaker clarified that the enforcement penalty must only apply to a person and not to property, but above all, respecting what the Constitution stipulates, although she indicated that every proposal can be perfected. He stated that it is important that there is a final judgment that the property can be extinguished, but that it is currently being analyzed what can be improved in the law.

The President of the Economic Regime Table believed that it is necessary to legally regulate the benevolently injured parties who, through their legal actions, unknowingly acquire property related to a criminal offense. “Yes, we will protect those who have been harmed in good faith, because the goods of illegal origin will be retained, but the money for the acquisition of these illegal goods would have to be returned to the people who bought them,” he pointed out.

Economy Minister Juan Carlos Vega is expected to appear this Wednesday; bank supervisor, Guadalupe Cabezas; Allan Sierra Nieto, director of UAFE; Mauricio Torres, Chief State Comptroller; Juan Carlos Larrea, Attorney General.
