Mining company MMG Las Bambas reportedly presented a document addressed to the presidency of the Council of Ministers indicating that it will not participate in the next dialogue processes called, revealed Jorge Luis Chávez, vice minister of Mines.
“Yesterday, Las Bambas presented a document addressed to the presidency of the Council of Ministers, to Prime Minister Mirtha Vásquez, indicating that they are not going to participate in the dialogue,” said Chávez during his intervention in a virtual event on the challenges and prospects for mining in Peru.
In this regard, the official highlighted the importance of the willingness of both parties to reach an agreement. “We believe in dialogue, if one of the parties does not participate in the dialogue, how can we build a good relationship,” he added.
As recalled, the Chinese company MMG, owner of the Las Bambas mining company, announced last Wednesday that it will oversee its activities on Saturday, December 18, if blockades persist in the Southern Mining Corridor by local communities.
