He Recognition Bonus 2024 It is an economic amount, approved by Congress at the insistence of 2023, for members and former contributors of the Pension Normalization Office (ONP) that moved to a Pension Fund Administrator (AFP). This law was admitted with the objective of returning part of their contributions to the State pension system.
Currently, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has sued this amount before the Constitutional Court because it would endanger the public pension system because it lacks financing for its return. However, in the event that this request from the Executive does not proceed, the head of the ONP, Víctorhugo Montoyaannounced when the delivery date would be.
Recognition Bonus 2024: when would it be delivered?
Since the New Recognition Bonus law, approved by Congress in 2023, is in demand, there is still no exact date for its delivery. In the event that the Constitutional Court rules in favor of it, the head of the ONP, as he told the newspaper Gestión, explained that the regulations for the delivery of the amounts should be ready by April 2024.
Likewise, it should be noted that the first contributors to receive this transfer will be those who are about to retire, that is, close to 50,000, according to calculations by the former Minister of Economy, Luis Miguel Castilla, in dialogue with La República.
Recognition Bonus 2024: how much will you receive on average?
In a previous interview with La República, the leader of the ONP, Victorhugo Montoya, mentioned that many former members have the mistaken belief that, by changing from the National Pension System to the private system, they will obtain a considerable Recognition Bonus. However, the reality will be different.
According to estimates by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), those insured who request this benefit will receive, on average, S/3,600. In terms of this law, the associated fiscal expense will be S/40,000 million.
“People think that they are going to receive a very high bonus, but it is a contribution made a long time ago. In the National System they contributed a little and it does not even reach S/4,000 (…). The amount of the Recognition Bonus would be S/3,600, which would be provided for people who reach 65 years of age,” he told this newsroom.
What does the ONP say about the 2024 Recognition Bonus?
In an interview with La República, the head of the ONP clarified that from the beginning they put this rule under observation, since it represents a risk for the Public Treasury and especially for future pension increases in the national system.
“We do not cover 100% of the pension payment with contributions, we only cover approximately 80%, the rest is covered by the Public Treasury. When they stress the Public Treasury with unforeseen finances, as in this case the recognition bonus, They could actually complicate the granting of pensions because there is only one money and it will have to come from somewhere, and in the pension field they already have things budgeted. So, our biggest fear is that there will not be much money to pay pensions, it could get worse. the payment of pensions is at risk, but the worst thing is that what the Executive has proposed is at risk, which is the increase in pensions.

What will happen to my pension if I transfer from the ONP to the AFP?
After changing from the National Pension System (SNP) to the Private Pension System (SPP), the member begins his account in the latter. If the person is over 50 years old and chooses to move to a Pension Fund Administrator (AFP), there is a risk of compromising their retirement pension. This is because in the SPP you will start building your pension from scratch.
