Peru won the title of “World’s Best Culinary Destination 2021” at the awards World Travel Awards (WTA), which is considered the World Travel Award in Spanish. What’s more, Macchu Picchu won the distinction of the best tourist attraction in the world and Peru the distinction of “Best leading cultural destination in the world 2021”, reported the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (Promperú).
Amora Carbajal, Executive President of Promperú, said that it is a pride that the country ranks as one of the most important tourist destinations in the world. It should be noted that The WTA Awards honor excellence in all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
“We will continue working to ensure that Peru continues with a firm process of safety and sustainability in each of the regions and tourist destinations that today welcome visitors from all over the world, where gastronomy and cultural heritage are a source of joy and admiration”, Carbajal said.
Award-winning Machu Picchu
Peru’s wonder of the world, Machu Picchu, also won a so-called “Tourism Oscar” by winning the distinction of “World’s Leading Tourist Attraction” in the global edition of the World Travel Awards.
This category was shared with other world attractions such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi and the IMG Worlds of Adventure (United Arab Emirates), the EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum (Ireland).
