The Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries announced that during the first session of the Strategic Committee for the Promotion and Attraction of Investments (CEPAI) in 2024, the green light was given to sign six investment contracts for a total private investment of 179.7 million dollars.

These investment contracts have the potential to create 217 jobs in the following years. They are intended to promote key sectors, such as aquaculture, manufacturing, agro-industry, agriculture and construction in various provinces, including Esmeraldas, Los Ríos, Azuay, El Oro and Guayas.

Additionally, the ministry reminded that as of November 24, 2023, the new government has approved more than $247 million in investment contracts. “These figures highlight the importance of implementing new projects to stimulate local economies, diversify production activities and, basically, create employment opportunities at the national level,” the state entity indicated.

Namely, on December 27, 2023, the Strategic Committee for the Promotion and Attraction of Investments (Cepai) approved three more investment contracts in the total amount of 67.5 million dollars, which will generate 1,665 jobs, related to the production sectors of aquaculture and production in Croatia. the provinces of Santa Elena, Guayas and Tungurahua.

Investment projects at that time were also focused on the aquaculture and plastics sectors. Therefore, among the goals of the projects is to increase the production capacity of larvae, to start a plant for packaging shrimps for export and to produce PVC compounds for the supply of plastic raw materials and to win a larger market share in the region.

These new contracts are added to the 260 and additions for more than 9.5 billion dollars of investments that were signed in the previous government, that of Guillermo Lasso. According to former production minister Daniel Legarda, that amount exceeds the $7.7 billion achieved between 2013 and 2021.
