What are the regions of Peru that led exports until November 2023?

Our country continues to stand out in the international arena due to the quality of the products it sends to consumers around the world. Proof of this is that Peruvian exports reached US$5.6 billion last November, which represents a growth of 12.2% compared to the same month of 2022, according to the Mincetur Monthly Trade Report.

Likewise, during the period between January and November 2023, excluding Lima and Callao, regional exports reached US$44,636 million 777,000 and registered an increase of 13.6%. Which regions led Peruvian exports in 2023?

The Exporters Association reported that 14 regions of the country experienced positive behavior regarding their shipments abroad between January and November of last year, not counting Lima and Callao. In total, an increase of 13.6% was recorded compared to the period from January to November 2022, when US$39,289 million 023,000 was obtained. Next, review the regions that lead Peruvian exports:

  1. Ica: It has shipments for US$6,437 million 575,000 and presents an increase of 7%. Mining and agribusiness were the areas that stood out the most.
  2. Arequipa: Its exports reach US$5,803 million 602,000 with a growth of 7.5%, with traditional mining as the most important sector, which mainly extracts copper and gold.
  3. Moquegua: It has shipments for US$4,916 million 799,000 and registers a growth of 65%. Its most important activity was traditional copper mining and refined copper cathodes.
  4. Ancash: Its exports reach US$4,654 million 691,000 and its products with the highest demand were copper, zinc, fish meal, molybdenum and cranberries.
  5. Freedom: It registers shipments for US$4,166 million 102,000 and its most notable items are traditional mining and agribusiness, in which gold, cranberries, avocados and other foods stand out.

It is worth noting that Pasco is the region that has the greatest positive variation, registering 162.2%. They are followed by Moquegua, Apurímac and Junín, which show growth in exports of 65%, 62% and 37.7%.

Countries that bought the most Peruvian products: which are they?

The main destination of Peru’s regional exports was China, during the period between January and November 2023. This country received 43% of the total sent abroad and reached US$19,309 million 676,000. In second place is the United States, which invested US$5,758 million 371,000 in Peruvian products; and in third place is Canada with US$2,397 million 709,000.

The ranking is completed by India with US$2,017 million 480,000 and Japan with US$1,758 million 220,000. Regarding agricultural exports, the Ministry of Agrarian Development revealed the 10 main destinations of our products: United States, Holland, Spain, Ecuador, China, Chile, England, Mexico, Colombia and Germany. These concentrate 78% of the total value exported during the period mentioned above.

Which regions reported a greater drop in their sales abroad?

According to data from the ADEX Data Trade Intelligence System, nine regions showed drops in their shipments during the period between January and November of last year:

  • Ucayali (-36.6%)
  • Amazon (-21.1%)
  • Tumbes (-19.5%)
  • Ancash (-17.9%)
  • Huánuco (-17.3%)
  • Lambayeque (-11.2%)
  • Loreto (-9.4%)
  • Cajamarca (-2.6%)
  • Huancavelica (-0.03%).
