21 airports in the country are trained and 100% operational and have appropriate security measures, the competent authorities reported on their social networks.

According to the data of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, at no time was the operation of any station suspended.

Guayaquil airport is guarded by the armed forces, where it is stated that due to the safety of users, entry into the facilities is limited. Domestic and foreign passengers must enter only with a ticket in physical or digital format, a passport and an identity card. In addition, only one companion per passenger is allowed.

Passengers are also asked to continuously check possible flight changes, either with the airline or travel agency.

Latam

Latam Airlines has reported that, in view of the security situation in Guayaquil and the state of emergency throughout the country, it has extended flexibility for all passengers traveling between January 9 and 14, 2024.

Avianca

The airline Avianca has informed its customers with reservations between January 9 and 14 that they will be able to change their itinerary at no additional cost up to 30 days after the original flight date, subject to availability.

For customers who wish to keep their flights scheduled within curfew hours, they will be able to travel to and from the airports with their ID and travel card.

In accordance with the state of public order and peace, users must be aware of the status of their reservations and official communication with Avianca.

There are 21 operational airports in Ecuador, of which 2 are international concessions: the same ones that maintain uninterrupted operations to provide security services for cargo, emergency, charter, private and humanitarian flights.

Of the total number of airports, four are under concession: José Joaquín de Olmedo in Guayaquil, Mariscal Sucre in Quito, Mariscal Lamar in Cuenca and Ecológico de Galápagos in Baltra.
