Fourth category retention suspension: how to request it?

  • Go to the Sunat website and click on the “Sunat Online Operations with your SOL code” section. Once you have entered with your data (RUC, username and password), select the “My procedures and queries” option.
  • Next, locate the “Other declarations and requests” section, and select “I request suspension of 4th Category Withholdings” (Virtual Form 1609).
  • In this form, you must enter the date on which you received your first income from Fourth Category Income and the total amount projected for the entire year. Remember that you only have to record Fourth Category income if you are an independent professional, or Fourth and Fifth Category income if you are also on the payroll.
  • The system will verify all the information you provided, and if necessary, will authorize the suspension of withholdings or payments on account. In addition, it will issue a corresponding certificate that you can send to the email you choose. Keep in mind that the suspension will take effect from the day after the procedure and will be validated until December 31 of this year.
