The Captaincy of the Port of Pisco approved the resumption of tours at Ballestas Islands for the benefit of national and international tourists, as well as local businesses. Likewise, fishing operations in the aforementioned province may also be carried out normally, according to Captaincy Resolution 006-2024. The Maritime Authority recommended maintaining preventive measures in the activities carried out, in order to ensure the safety of people.
“The opening of LEVEL I is resolved (there is no type of limitation for ship traffic) for Caleta el Chaco, Caleta la Puntilla to Caleta San Andrés, Pisco Camisea Marine Terminal, Petroperú Multiboyas Port Terminal, Paracas Port Terminal, Puerto Cerro Azul and Puerto Tambo de Mora, jurisdiction of this Port Captaincy; for carrying out maritime, tourist, walks, recreational nautical, fishing and port activities starting at 06:00 on January 7, 2024”, details the document.
In this regard, the president of the Chamber of Tourism and Foreign Trade (Capatur), Eduardo Jáuregui, welcomed the decision of this authority and pointed out that this means that About 6,000 visitors will have daily access to the trips to the Ballestas Islands, which are transported by around 50 boats.
