Many Peruvian families dream of accessing their own home, therefore, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) has announced changes to the Own Roof program. These modifications reveal a significant increase for the Family Housing Bonus (BFH), in the modality of purchasing a new home (AVN).
Below, we detail how these developments boost participation in the program and, therefore, facilitate the acquisition of one’s own home and provide more opportunities to Peruvian families in a context of economic crisis.
How much is the new amount of the Techo Propio bonus?
The Family Housing Bonus (BFH), in the AVN modality, has experienced a substantial increase. According to Ministerial Resolution No. 587-2023-VIVIENDA, beneficiary families will now receive a bonus equivalent to 8.7 of the tax unit (UIT); In this way, it reaches the sum of S/44,805, additional financial support for Techo Propio applicants
In 2023, the amount of the bonus amounted to S/43,312.5. However, in order to help Peruvian families affected by the economic damage caused by COVID-19 and to adapt to the current economic reality, it was temporarily increased to 8.7 UIT.
Own roof:What are the requirements to apply?
The requirements to access the AVN modality of Own Roof are that interested families must form a family group, not own another home or land nationwide, not have previously received another state housing voucher, and have a monthly income that does not exceed S/3,715.
These conditions seek to guarantee that the program benefits those who really need it and, thus, focuses on providing support to families with fewer resources, especially after the pandemic.
