The bill prepared by the Executive, which proposes the reduction of electricity rates in sectors with fewer economic resources, will benefit more than 21 million Peruvians, reported the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem).
Thus, the proposal that seeks to expand the coverage of the Electric Social Inclusion Fund (FOSE) would include a total of 777,786 new supplies, which together would add more than 3 million beneficiaries.
For its part, the increase in discounts would benefit approximately 4,500,000 current supplies, which would generate an accumulated 18 million Peruvians benefited by the measure.
According to Minem, “the monthly subsidy requirement of the FOSE would reach S / 39.2 million (currently it collects approximately S / 30 million), which would be financed with S / 20.3 million contributions from regulated users of the National Electric Interconnected System (SEIN) with consumptions greater than 140 kWh / month and S / 18.9 million contributions from free users ”.
It should be remembered that the initiative, which has already been sent to Congress, proposes that subsidies be provided, through the FOSE, to users who consume up to 140 kWh / month (currently it is only up to 100 kWh / month). In addition, it proposes that free users (industries) also participate in the financing of the aforementioned fund. This will achieve a discount of up to 15% on the electricity bills of families with fewer resources
