Alex Contreras, Minister of Economy and Finance, announced that private investment will finally close positively in 2024, considering that in the last 2 years it suffered losses. He foresees a rate of 2% for this item, which covers 80% of the total investment in the country.

“Private investment has been recovering over the course of 2023. In the first quarter of the year, Private investment fell at a double-digit rate, close to 12%, but this fall has been recovering”, he mentioned on TV Perú.

Likewise, it projects a 6% increase in public investment, thus completing 4 consecutive years of prosperity.

“This growth in public investment would compensate for the gap in private investment,” he said.

It should be added that private investment has been deteriorated by business pessimism, in accordance with the expectations collected by the BCRP.
