EP Petroecuador reported that it will continue the work to rehabilitate the spill that occurred on December 29 in the Amazon District Pipeline Network (RODA), in the Lago Agrio Sacha sector. This Saturday, December 30, EP Petroecuador reported 80% progress in the repair work on the Sacha-Lago Agrio secondary pipeline, which belongs to the Amazon District pipeline network.

On December 29, a traffic accident occurred when a private freight transport ran into part of this pipeline system, causing a severe fire. This in turn caused the oil spill.

Then Petroecuador had to stop pumping crude oil through this line and sent technical personnel to the area to mitigate the event.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environmental Protection reported that it has notified operators to begin carrying out contingency activities, cleaning and recovering crude oil in the affected area and presenting an emergency plan for this type of incident.

The environment also indicated that the staff of this state portfolio is conducting a review of all affected environmental and social components, as well as a review of indications of environmental damage, which is appropriate for this type of emergency.

This ministry announced that it carries out appropriate control and monitoring to guarantee compliance with all actions and mitigate any possible impact on the environment.
