The Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) chain opened its #157 location at 12:00 on Friday, December 29, located on the coast, in Guayaquil.
This build took about three months, according to Lissette Robayo, KFC’s social media manager. And it also has fast car services, home delivery, kiosks for receiving orders and 136 positions with more than 20 parking spaces, which will be increased in the coming months.
“We chose the coast because it is an important pole of growth in Guayaquil, where more than 70,000 people live and there is high vehicle trafficthese and other attributes of the sector are essential for building a branded restaurant that meets and covers all the needs of our consumers,” said Robayo.
60 jobs will be offered at the KFC job fair: this is how you can apply for vacancies for the Uyumbicho production plant and restaurants in Ecuador
With this new opening, they activated 25 jobs related to customer service in the restaurant, associates and administrators. Likewise, there were others related to construction.
This place, on the coast, has an environmental management plan, says Robayo. “We have organic and common waste management, the use of grease traps, we promote energy saving by using LED lighting and water with automatic flow regulators, the use of biodegradable materials and wastewater treatment,” he pointed out.
Working hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Sunday to Thursday. While from Friday to Saturday, it will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Only for Friday, December 29, it will be open until 10:00 p.m.
KFC has high expectations with the opening approaching the end of 2023. “Mainly that our customers have a good experience with the quality of products and service that characterizes KFC, in a spacious and comfortable restaurant with parking, which has a kiosk service where they can personalize their orders, and added fast car service and home delivery, with which we cover the entire sector from coast to coast,” said Robayo.
Meanwhile, KFC has opened five other restaurants in Guayaquil alone this year, creating jobs. One of them is next to the Oasis shopping center, on Narcisa de Jesús highway. The seat is next to the bumpy bridge that connects to La Joya.
“The latest restaurant opening remains within expectations, which makes us even more committed to the service we offer,” says the company.
Last November, KFC held a job fair during the official opening of its premises in Machachi, in the canton of Mejía.
Unemployment was 3.5 percent in November 2023: 293,581 Ecuadorians are unemployed
At the time, the site was chosen because of Machachi’s 203 years of independence and because the community demanded it, said Javier Cruz, KFC Group’s head of public affairs and human resources.
“This is not the first time we hold a fair, we do it all the time. The KFC Group is among the five largest employers in the country and is looking for people from all the cantons where we are located. In this location in Machachi, we are doing this to mark the inauguration of the location and our team will select the people,” Cruz said.
Energy plant for own consumption
Together with Solar Team, KFC designed, implemented and put into operation a photovoltaic plant with more than 2,500 solar panels.
This solar plant will supply energy to 13 KFC restaurants in the city of Quito: El Inca, Michelena, Cumbayá, Patria, Carcelén, Cotocollao, among others.
The electricity generated by solar panels is inexhaustible and non-polluting. It is designed to meet 90% of the demand of 13 restaurants with an installed capacity of 1.5 megawatts, generating 2.3 megawatts per hour per year and a lifetime of 25 years.
This means that more than 681 tons of CO2 are avoided per year, which is equivalent to planting more than 40,000 trees over the 25 years of the project.
