More than 540,000 state employees will have an increase of S/50 since January

The workers of the public sector They will have an increase of S/50 as of January 1, 2024, in accordance with the collective agreement signed in the middle of the year and which was stipulated in the public budget law for fiscal year 2024.

This salary improvement was made official yesterday through supreme decrees 313 and 314 issued by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

In detail, the servers of the labor regimes 276, 728, 1057 (CAS), 30057 (civil service), 29709 (Special Public Penitentiary Career) and 28091 (diplomats) will receive this increase. It is estimated that more than 540,000 public workers will obtain economic improvementsaccording to José Sandoval, spokesperson for the Peruvian State Workers’ Front (FTEP).

“This is a struggle of the workers even though it is a ridiculous increase in times of recession,” added the leader.

In accordance with the legal norm, it is specified that, if once the increase of S/50 has been made, the total monthly income of the public servant exceeds the amount of S/15,600, the amount of the increase will be adjusted to said limit.

The salary increase is remunerative in nature, has a pensionable nature, is affected by social charges and constitutes the basis of calculation for the Laboral benefits that correspond.

Another increase in December

It will not be the only increase that public workers will have this year, since on December 31 of this year they will receive another increase of S/50. Thus, the increase of S/100 agreed between the Government and representatives of state servants. This amount is also contemplated in the 2024 public budget.

Sandoval states that, although it has been arranged that the second increase will take place on December 31, the Executive Branch itself has committed that the salary improvement will arrive in the December payroll.

“The forms are closed on the 15th of each month, but they have told us that yes or yes the payment of the S/50 more will be included in December, which would become S/100,” he adds.

Negotiation in progress

In accordance with the law on collective bargaining in the public sector, Every year economic improvements must be negotiated and not economic in the State.

In this way, as part of the process, the various public unions They have already presented their list of demands to the State to begin negotiating what will be the new amounts of increases that should apply from 2025.

Prior to this, the MEF must publish the Final Report on the Situation of the Financial Administration of the Public Sector, which includes the fiscal space that the Government has for collective bargaining.

“We want a better salary increase to be able to recover the purchasing power that has been lost,” said the union leader.

It is worth mentioning that the deadline for the representatives of the state and the Government reach an agreement is June 30, 2025.

Bonus in the public sector will be S/300

In accordance with the 2024 public budget law, Bonuses for National Holidays and Christmas will be S/300 and will be included in July and December payments.

These benefits are for officials and servants hired under the labor regime 276, 29944 and 3051, as well as university professors (30220), health personnel (1153), permanent and temporary workers in the public sector, personnel of the Armed Forces and National Police and pensioners of law 15117.

Meanwhile, state personnel who are included in the labor regime of private activity will receive a bonus for National Holidays in July and for Christmas in December, equivalent to a remuneration.

The schooling bonus will be up to S/400 for all state students and will be paid in January.
