Government raises the ITU for the year 2024 to S/5,150

Update of S/5,150 will modify taxes, infractions, fines and other tax aspects of the national system. The new increase of S/200 for ITU 2024 has been applied “gradually” in the face of the inflationary crisis, according to Minister Alex Contreras.

The Peruvian Government announced that the new Tax Unit (UIT) will amount to S/5,150 in 2024. The previous value of the formula was S/4,950.

Through supreme decree No. 309-2023-EF, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) increases by 4% the amount that will be used in the next fiscal year 2024 to calculate taxes, violations, fines and other tax aspects of the national system.

“During the year 2024, the value of the Tax Tax Unit (UIT) as a reference index in tax regulations will be Five Thousand One Hundred and Fifty 00/100 Soles (S/.5,150.00),” the document states.

The new UIT of S/5,150 – which corresponds to an increase of S/200 from the previous formula – has been applied “gradually” in the face of the inflationary crisis, according to Minister Alex Contreras.

“We have made a gradual adjustment of the ITU. The ITU adjustments follow inflation, if we take into account last year’s inflation it was close to 9% plus now, 3%, in the accumulated it is 12%; the The increase would actually have been greater. If you calculate 12% of almost S/5,000, it is S/600 of adjustment, but what we wanted to do is modulate that increase,” he told TV Perú Noticias.

Since 2012, the ITU has raised a total of S/1,500. The new increase for 2024, however, is not the largest in recent years: from 2022 to 2023 it had an increase of S/350.
