Between January and November of this year, 2,261,997 international tourists arrived in the country, which represents an increase of 24.8% or an additional flow of 450,000 foreign travelers compared to the same period in 2022. However, this figure is still to 56.4% of pre-pandemic levels, as revealed by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).

Given this evolution and just days before the end of the year, Mincetur maintains its projection of reaching 2.5 million international tourists by the end of 2023.
What countries are the tourists from?
According to information provided by Mincetur, the main source markets for international tourists to Peru were: Chile (23.8% share), followed by USA (19.2%), Ecuador (9.7%), Colombia (5.8%) and Brazil (5.2%).
Regionally, around 1.2 million of international tourists came from South America. On the other hand, 543,000 of those who visited Peru were from North America. While citizens of Europe represented 14.9% of travelers, followed by Asia (3.3%) and Central America (2.7%).

Mincetur also reported that for tourism reasons, around 2.7 million Peruvians left the country between January and November of this year, which represents an increase of 44.4% compared to the same period in 2022. Likewise, this figure shows that 90.4% of pre-pandemic levels were reached,
Among the destination countries for Peruvians are: Chile (31.7% participation), United States (13.1%), Spain (8.5%), Mexico (7.5%), Bolivia (7, 4%) and Colombia (7.3%).
