The investigation, opened following a complaint filed by independent distributors, will seek to determine whether Repsol committed anticompetitive practices between March and December 2022, the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) said in its statement.
In that period, the energy group could have offered “additional discounts on fuel to users of its service stations through applications or loyalty and payment cards”detailed the CNMC.

Contacted by AFP, Repsol He said he “flatly” rejected the accusations, while guaranteeing that it “strictly complies with competition regulations.”
“The CNMC has opened a sanctioning file for a measure aimed at favoring consumers,” added the company, which said it had “made an enormous effort to help its clients (…) with more than 500 million euros allocated to discounts at their service stations in Spain”.
