Peruvian economy grew 4.55% during October of this year

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported this Wednesday that the economy grew 4.55% in October of this year compared to the same month of 2020.

This result was given by the favorable behavior of most of the economic sectors, with the exception of Fishing, Construction, as well as Finance and Insurance, according to the National Production technical report.

On the other hand, in what goes from January to October 2021, the economy increased by 15.99%, while in the annualized period November 2020 – October 2021, it did so by 12.72%.

While in the seasonally adjusted index, the national production in October contracted by -1.19% compared to the immediately previous month.

To detail, the Agricultural sector increased by 5.16% compared to the same month of 2020 due to the higher production volumes of the agricultural subsector (6.83%), among which the hot pepper (62.7%), strawberry (61.9%), oil palm (40.9%) stood out. %), coffee (36.1%), paddy rice (9.6%), asparagus (9.3%) and cocoa (6.7%).

In addition, the Accommodation and Restaurants sector grew by 62.11% thanks to the recovery of the accommodation subsector (563.46%) and the restaurants subsector (52.11%). These were favored by the relaxation of restrictions and extension of hours, mainly.

While Mining and Hydrocarbons grew by 1.37% by the performance of the metallic mining subsector in 0.42% associated with the higher production volumes of iron (9.8%), gold (6.7%), copper (2.7%), molybdenum (2.2% ) and silver (1.5%); however, the production of zinc (-15.2%), tin (-8.4%) and lead (-4.4%) decreased.

On the other hand, the hydrocarbons subsector rose 7.24% due to the greater exploitation of crude oil (17.0%), natural gas (8.8%) and natural gas liquids (1.3%).

On the other side of the coin, the Fishing sector fell -33.15% due to the lower capture of species of maritime origin (-34.92%) destined for direct human consumption for canning (-62.1%), cured (-60.5%), frozen (-42.0%) and for consumption in fresh state (-21.6%).
