Tisur would almost double its investments in the Port of Matarani in 2024

Tisur, the company that manages the concession of the port of Matarani (Arequipa), plans to make investments in said terminal for up to US$8 million in 2024, higher than the US$5 million with which it would close in 2023.

This, as a corollary to the investment activities that the Romero Group company has developed in the last 24 years, in which it has become a transit port for the minerals of Cerro Verde, Las Bambas and Antapaccay, among other copper operations.

This dock, key to the economic reactivation in the south – a region that receives one of the most important taxes in the sector – has three enormous, completely hermetic warehouses with a capacity of 150,000 MT for Cerro Verde, 10,000 MT for Las Bambas, and 50,000 MTM for Antapaccay.

“Thanks to the implementation of the modernization process, we have been able to attend to the main mining projects in the south of the country, making us a strategic partner for this industry, since 70% of the volume mobilized corresponds to large-scale mining,” said Mauricio Nuñez. del Prado, General Manager of Tisur.

“Investments for 2024 range from US$6 million to US$8 million for maintenance of port facilities, equipment renewal and new technology,” he added.

At this point, Núñez highlighted the construction of Pier F, which is located in the outer harbor of the port, which is linked to land by a 280-meter-long access bridge, a docking front of 202 meters and a natural draft of 18 meters, conditions that allow it to receive ships of up to 60,000 tons.

The general manager of Tisur pointed out that, currently, they also serve two relevant mines such as Hudbay and Marcobre at berth C. The company hopes to renew its concession in 2026.

“In the coming years, we will be prepared to attend to future projects such as the Minera Zafranal company who are looking for an efficient solution for the export of their copper concentrates,” he concluded.
