Given the time, the UPCG and the Legal Secretariat of the Presidency organized a debate on public finances in which representatives of ministries and state secretaries participated.

The meeting served to consider the legal regulation of public resource management; the cycle that PGE must adhere to (programming, formulation, approval, execution, evaluation and monitoring and closure and liquidation), Finance said in a statement released on Thursday, December 21 afternoon.

The composition of budget revenues and expenditures, as well as the purpose established by law, was also analyzed. The authorities were informed about the state of the fiscal deficit and financing needs, the State Portfolio reported.

During the meeting, Economy Minister Juan Carlos Vega emphasized that it is important for the authorities to know what the fiscal budget entails. He assured that the Government will ensure “responsible and technical management of public resources”.

Meanwhile, Michel Mancheno, legal secretary of the Presidency, commented that efficiency in the management of public finances is needed to guarantee basic services and common progress.
