Banco de la Nación would offer loans of up to S / 60,000

The National bank could offer loans from S / 500 to S / 60,000 to micro and small entrepreneurs, informed José Chávez Accounts, president of the institution, during his participation in the session of the Consumer Defense Commission in the Congress of the Republic.

The official explained that interest rates in the state entity would be lower than those charged in the market. “The bank would be granting rates between 10% and 45%; (currently) the rates in the market are between 15% and 90% ”, he pointed out.

In addition, he stressed that the Banco de la Nación would take between 15 and 18 months to implement the service, the same that would be intended for small entrepreneurs who are excluded or do not have access to the financial system.

In that sense, he stressed that the objective of the state entity is to complement the offer that is currently being made by private banks. Likewise, it estimated that the potential demand for the service would be S / 10,387 million, while the cost to implement it would be around S / 100 million.

According to projections, the service would generate profits of up to S / 2,000 million in the fifth year after its implementation.

On the other hand, the Consumer Defense Commission approved by majority the opinion that empowers the Banco de la Nación to provide multiple banking services to individuals and micro and small businesses. This is in line with the Executive’s proposal.
