Machu Picchu, wonder of the world and the most important ceremonial site in Andean Peru, will have promotional rates for entry starting January 1, 2024, reported the Ministry of Culture (Mincul).
This discount with promotional rates to access the historic Sanctuary, located in the Imperial City of Cusco, will be established at certain times, with the objective of “providing facilities to visitors to the llaqta and taking care of the heritage with orderly access.”
It should be noted that, until now, the general fee to enter the llaqta of Machu Picchu was S/64, while students of university and/or technical higher education, and minors, had to pay S/32.
However, Mincul established a 50% discount as of January 1, 2024, so the general rate will become S/32, while the rate for students and minors will be S/16.
Machu Picchu: promotional rates at half price
When will the 50% discount to enter Machu Picchu work? The Mincul established up to four time slots to “promote domestic tourism and provide access facilities to the national population.”
These prices of S/32 in general rate and S/16 for university/technical students and minors will operate during the hours of 6:00 am, 7:00 am, 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm
Will some type of discount work on other shifts? No. However, the Mincul guaranteed that prices will not increase to be able to visit Machu Picchu during the rest of the day.
“This decision will allow the flow of visitors to disperse, contributing to the conservation of the llaqta,” said the Minister of Culture, Leslie Urteaga.
It should be noted that this benefit will reach Peruvian citizens, foreign residents in the country and the Andean Community of Nations.
The approved promotional rates will be valid until December 31, 2024, as indicated in Ministerial Resolution No. 000517-2023-MC.
