The wholesale price continues to rise, and this Wednesday it will hit a new ceiling when it touches 300 euros per megawatt per hour. The previous record was 288.53 euros / MWh, on October 7.
The average price of electricity in the wholesale market will be this Wednesday 291.73 euros per megawatt hour (MWh), which represents a new historical record by exceeding the 288.53 euros registered on October 7, the previous maximum peak.
By time slots, the highest price will be given between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., when will reach 319.1 euros / MWh, while the lowest was registered between 05:00 and 06:00, with 261.73 euros / MWh.
After stabilizing around 200 euros last week, the price of electricity has once again spun out of control in recent days and the trend of the last few days already warned of the possibility of reaching a new all-time record, just as it happened.
So far this month the average has already stood at 221.06 euros / MWh, which, if it continues like this, would exceed the record of the past October, which was the most expensive month in history.
The rise in prices in the electricity market in recent months is mainly explained by high gas prices in the markets and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rights, at record highs this year.
