Panettone is a product of Italian origin that is very popular in Latin America, especially during the Christmas season. In it Peru, it is usually consumed with a rich hot chocolate and, sometimes, with butter. This bun from Italy is widely produced in Peruvian lands by companies such as D’Onofrio, Gloria, among others, and is exported to 23 different countries in the world, according to statistics from the Foreign Trade Research and Development Institute of the Lima Chamber of Commerce. During the first ten months of 2023, Peruvian panettone exports reached a total value of US$5.9 million. This represents an increase of 6% compared to the same period last year, when US$5.6 million in exports were recorded. The United States is the main buyer of this product. The main markets for Peruvian panettone

The United States leads the purchase of Peruvian panettone with 47% of the total exported. During the period from January to October 2023, panettone worth US$8 million was exported to this market, which shows a growth of 140% compared to 2022.

Chili occupies second place as an international destination and first in South America with an imported value of US$1.4 million, followed by Bolivia and Japan with shipments exceeding US$574,000 and US$252,000, respectively.
