Minem: Executive table for the massification of natural gas underway

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) installed this Tuesday, December 14, the Executive Board of Natural Gas, which will promote participation and dialogue between the actors involved in the sustainable, inclusive and efficient development of the industry of our main energy resource.

The General Directorate of Hydrocarbons (DGH) del Minem specified that the executive table will hear the technical and regulatory proposals of the representatives of public entities and will discuss measures to strengthen the massification of natural gas and its intensive use at the national level.

“In the effort to accelerate and optimize the massification and use of natural gas, it is necessary to bring together all those involved, from the consumer to the producer, from the regulator to the person responsible for the regulations, to work together aiming at the growth of the country and the well-being of the population ”, said yesterday the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Jorge Chavez.

The DGH stressed that the overcrowding of the resource and its intensive use in homes, which constitutes one of the Government’s flagships, is not limited to cooking food, an area in which it generates significant savings, but also to the use of heaters, refrigeration equipment, transport of people, cargo and merchandise, among others.

The DGH recalled that one of the priority axes in the National Energy Policy of Peru 2010-2040 is the massification of natural gas at the national level. In this sense, the executive board will contribute to the objective of consolidating an energy system that meets national demand with a reliable, regular, continuous, sustainable and efficient supply.

Massification: a commitment to natural gas

The installation counted with the participation of representatives of institutions such as Petroperú, Osinergmin, as well as concessionaires such as Cálidda, Contugas, Gases del Pacifico and Gases del Norte.

There were also organizations such as the Gas Technical Committee, the National Association of Natural Gas and Liquefied Petroleum Gas Installers in Peru, the National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy (SNMPE), the Peruvian Hydrocarbons Society (SPH), the National Coordinator of Natural Gas Users of Peru, installers unions, the human settlement Asociación Héroes del Pacifico de Villa, among others.
