Tilsa Tsuchiya is the face that appears on the obverse and completes the family of Peruvian banknotes with a modern look. This monetary cash will circulate simultaneously with the already well-known design of Santa Rosa de Lima.

In conversation with La República, Abraham de la Melena, a BCRP official, spoke about the new S/200 bill which was put into circulation today, Friday, December 15. “Within a while the previous design will be withdrawn from circulation and there will come a time when we will practically only see the new family in circulation,” he said.
About the banknote with the design of Tilsa TsuchiyaAbraham de la Melena stressed that it has the same security elements as the family of modern banknotes. “They are made of 100% cotton, which gives them a characteristic resistance and special texture. We also have a watermark, a security thread with moving images and an ink that changes color from gold to green,” he said.

Who was Tilsa Tsuchiya, the new image of the S/200 bill?
