The arrival of this chain in Ecuador was announced in February 2023 in the neighboring country by VerĂ³nica Valdez, general director of Promart, for Economic week from Peru.
But Promart is not Intercorp’s first investment in Ecuador. As stated by the portal MassContainer, The Peruvian group has already been in Ecuador since 2018, after buying the pharmaceutical company Quicorp.
That portal also published the statements of Jorge Marcos Sans, general manager of the Ecuadorian department of Promart Homecenter: “When we started Promart Homecenter in Peru, we faced big international competitors. In order to gain market share, we knew we had to operate quickly and efficiently. In just ten years of business, we have won 34% of the market in large home furnishing stores.”
