A pause in rationing is expected for this Friday, December 15, but considering the conditions of electricity supply in the country, the exact opposite will happen, since the hours of power outages will be extended from that day.

The Ministry of Energy and Mining announced at the end of this Tuesday afternoon that the dry period is still going on and that the reserves in the hydroelectric dams have not been renewed, so from this Friday, December 15, there will be increased power outages of up to one hour a day, or up to three hours a day.

Currently, the power goes out for two hours in different sectors and cities of the country, each has its own schedule.

The Minister of Energy and Mining, Andrea Arrobo, announced in the National Assembly that for the Christmas and New Year holidays, the blackouts will be suspended throughout the country and that this will be in the middle of this month of December.

When he appeared before the Supervisory Commission on December 4, he said that the decision to suspend rationing for the holidays “is based on the planning they are doing and the good management of water supplies in the two reservoirs.”

However, this state portfolio has now reported that the situation has not improved. Thus, the disconnection will be suspended for only six days: December 23, 24 and 25 for Christmas and December 30, 31 and January 1, 2024 for New Year’s Eve.
