Bonus of S/300 for the public sector: when is it paid and what are the requirements?

Bonus 2023: requirements to collect this extra money

On December 6, the Executive Branch made official the regulatory provisions for the granting of the Christmas bonus, the amount of which amounts to S/300. To collect this amount in December, it is necessary to meet the following requirements:

  • Have been working as of November 30 of this year or in use of vacation rest, paid leave or receiving the subsidies referred to in Law No. 26790, Law of Modernization of Social Security in Health
  • Have been in the service for no less than three months as of November 30 of this year. If the aforementioned three-month period is not available, this concept is paid proportionally to the months and days worked.

Who will receive the S/300 Christmas bonus?

As established by the Supreme Decree No. 274-2023-EFthe bonus of S/300 is given to:

  • Officials and both employees appointed and contracted under the labor regime of Legislative Decree No. 276, Law No. 29944 and Law No. 30512
  • Pensioners dependent on the State who are included in the regimes of Law No. 15117, Decree Laws No. 19846 and No. 20530, Supreme Decree No. 051-88-PCM and Law No. 28091
  • University teachers included in Law No. 30220
  • Personnel of the Armed Forces and the National Police
  • Permanent and temporary workers in the public sector
  • The health personnel referred to in paragraph 3.2 of article 3 of Legislative Decree No. 1153
  • In the case of workers hired under the CAS labor regime, they will receive a payment of S/300 per bonus.
  • For the national teaching profession, the bonus will be calculated in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 29944. Teachers with full working hours are granted an amount no less than that indicated in literal a) of section 7.1 of article 7 of the Public Sector Budget Law for 2023
  • Human Medicine and Dentistry interns will receive a bonus payment of S/100, within the framework of what is established in the Second Final Complementary Provision of Emergency Decree No. 016-2020.

What is the difference between the bonus and the gratuity?

Although some people think that they are the same economic benefit, the truth is that the bonus and the bonus are different concepts according to the sector in which the worker works. In the case of the bonus, it is received by those private sector employees registered on payrolls and with respect to the bonus, it is a fixed amount that is granted to public sector workers.
