The Minister of Labor, Patricio Donoso, gave examples of how a salary increase will be applied to workers from different sectors.
Sector salaries will be defined next Monday, December 22, as confirmed by the Minister of Labor, Patricio Donoso. They would also have hikes, like the unified basic salary (SBU) that President Guillermo Lasso announced.
As of January 2022, the basic salary will go up $ 25, that is, it will be located at $ 425. In Ecuador, 18% of workers earn the basic salary: about 450,000 and 500,000 Ecuadorians, the minister explained.

Donoso indicated, during a press conference in Quito, that the revision of the sectorial tables will be carried out as has been done before. And he gave examples:
For agriculture, the current wage bands are between $ 400 and $ 411, and would go to between $ 426 and $ 437.
This increase would average 6%, similar to what was announced to apply to the basic salary in general.
In the case of pharmaceutical activities, the current ranges are between $ 408 and $ 435, and in 2022 they would be between $ 434 and $ 462.
Tourism has a range that goes from $ 402 to $ 407, and in this sectorial table, salaries would increase to between $ 427 and $ 432 next year, according to the examples given by the minister.
In Decree 286, issued on December 13 by President Guillermo Lasso, it was decided to put into consideration by the National Council of Labor and Salaries the setting of the basic price at $ 425 for the worker in general, including those of small industry, agricultural , of maquila, paid from home, handicraft workers and collaborators of the microenterprise.
Lasso indicated that the salary increase seeks to improve the income of Ecuadorians and that the economic reactivation must begin with the most needy families and the workers who help the country grow, and that wealth must reach the workers first.
