By 2023-2025, Peru will have seven new shopping centers with an investment amount of US$192 million, reported the Institute of Economics and Business Development (IEDEP) of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL). The inauguration of the Plaza de los Reyes Gastronomic Shopping Center in the Center of Lima and Eco Plaza Ate is planned for this year, although there are no defined dates yet.
For 2024 and 2025, the opening of four malls in Lima and one in the province is estimated: Eco Plaza Wilson (US$30 million), Lifestyle La Molina (US$60 million), Las Vegas Plaza Puente Piedra (US$40 million), the Centro Comercial San Juan de Lurigancho of the Cencosud group (undefined amount) and Eco Plaza Piura (US$25 million).
Postponements
Although last month there was a portfolio of 12 malls by 2025, there are six shopping complexes that were postponed until 2026, which amount to US$540 million.
“The fall in GDP and the minimal growth in private consumption can explain these decisions, in addition to the climate of pessimism that surrounds private investment,” said Óscar Chávez, head of IEDEP.
Those that will not open are the Central Plaza Los Olivos (US$50 million) and Plaza Nicolini (US$70 million), the Mall Plaza Cusco (US$70 million), the Real Plaza de San Juan de Lurigancho (US$110 million), Real Plaza Milenia in San Isidro and Real Plaza Higuereta (both US$120 million).

Chávez pointed out that in the following two years The objective of large companies will be to expand recreational areas and improve services, before building new malls.
The Intercorp Group plans to remodel five of its 21 stores, while Parque Arauco converted its establishments in Quinde, in Cajamarca and Ica, to the Mega Plaza brand.
