The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) announced the start of a bidding process to find bidders to contribute to the laying of networks and the massification of natural gas in the Huancavelica region.
The announcement came after the signing of an agreement between Minister Oscar Vera Gargurevich and the regional governor of Huancavelica, Leoncio Huayllani.
Through the agreement, national or foreign companies that have experience, operational and economic capacity, will be able to present their best offer to provide the construction service of domestic natural gas distribution networks in the city of Huancavelica.
In a first stage, the supply of natural gas will be carried out through liquefied natural gas (LNG), transported in tankers to the region, to later be regasified in a satellite regasification plant.
Natural gas: massification for the south of the country
As recalled, Ministerial Resolution 072-2023-MINEM/DM made official the 2023 Annual Promotions Program, which contemplates the initial development of infrastructure for the distribution of natural gas through a pipeline network in regions of the interior of the country with a budget of S/150 million.
Minem approved the “Procedure for the provision of Comprehensive Internal Installation Service and the Execution of Natural Gas Massification Projects within the framework of the Natural Gas Supply Promotion Programs financed by the Energy Social Inclusion Fund-FISE.”
Said resolution establishes that Minem, as administrator of FISE, is authorized to carry out the bidding and selection of a company specialized in the execution of natural gas massification projects.
The projects contemplated may correspond to the CNG or LNG supply stage for various supply points in geographical areas that have not been concessioned.
