The Christmas campaign is one of the most important for micro and small businesses (MSEs), since sales are crucial to generate resources and start the following year well.

However, according to the latest survey by the Mype Studies Center at the national level, 60% of mypes in services, manufacturing, commerce and tourism expects sales in the month of December to be between average and poor (see graph).

In addition, temporary hiring, which at this time rose by up to 80%, especially for wineries or clothing stores, has also been reduced by 74%.

Daniel Hermoza, president of the MUPwarns that now stores have had to reduce their costs and work longer hours to maintain operation.

“The common factor is low consumption as a result of prices that have remained high after inflation, and measures such as stopping credit, raising interest, and to this is added the lower investment. A December with low sales could cause 53.8% of mypes to have to reduce their costs in 2024, while 12.8% contemplate laying off their staff and 10.3% would be forced to change the sector. of your business.

Hermoza highlighted that The Government should implement rescue measures more than loans, because many companies are in economic crisis and they cannot access credit programs.
