The national food processing company CA (Pronaca) has announced the departure of its egg brand Indaves from the Ecuadorian market. The company indicated to this newspaper that the decision to remove the brand began to be analyzed several months ago. The company thereby ruled out that the departure of its commercial brand of eggs was due to the impact of bird flu or the collection of 12% VAT that the poultry sector began to pay from September last year on the import of laying eggs, which the poultry sector is currently claiming.

“Several months ago, we began the orderly closure of our consumer egg lines,” the company confirmed.

Pronaca invests 25 million dollars to increase the capacity of its factory for the production of feed for chickens and pigs by 50%

The goal of this strategy, according to the company, is to focus on businesses where the company adds more value to its consumers; such as chicken, pork, sausages, frozen food, animal feed and mostly canned goods. Namely, in July of last year, the company invested 25 million dollars in the expansion of the facility for the production of fodder for chickens and pigs, located in Quevedo, province of Los Ríos, which will be ready in a year. Vladimir Yépez, head of the Pronaca project, revealed on that occasion that the factory will go from producing 22,000 to 30,000 tons per month in the next ten years.

Meanwhile, when asked if the closure of the Indaves egg line would mean a decrease in revenue, the company replied that the decision does not mean less revenue, but rather a strategic reorientation that allows it to create more value for their consumers.
