The workers of the Las Bambas mining union, whose parent company is the Chinese company MMG, began a day of indefinite strike demanding more “financial and economic information on the payment of profits.”

As reported by RPP Noticias, the workers of the copper mining company arrived at the administrative headquarters of the mining company, located in Cusco, led by the president of the Single Union of Workers of Las Bambas, Erick Ramos Luna.

According to the union members, there have been eight years in which MMG Las Bambas, affected by continuous social conflicts, has only declared profits in one year, so they do not receive greater profits.

“The company has left more than 150 colleagues stranded in the city of Cusco [camino a la movilización convocada]”, denounced one of them

According to the miners of one of the most important copper operations in the world, the company responsible has “intended that they sign a commitment sheet so that they go to work and not go on strike.”

As recalled, on Monday and Tuesday of last week the mining workers complied with a two-day strike in which the Minister of Energy and Mines himself, Oscar Vera, was a mediator.
