Along with the pyramids of Giza in Cairo, the domes of the Blue Mosque on the banks of the Bosphorus river in Istanbul (Turkey); the snowy landscapes of Salt Lake, in Utah (United States); and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, there is Guayaquil, as one of the five fashionable destinations to visit in 2022.
This, according to the Kayak travel booking site, which published this list based on flight searches in recent months.

The Minister of Tourism, Niels Olsen, reacted to the inclusion of Guayaquil in this list, before other famous destinations in the region such as Machu Picchu (Peru), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) or Cancun (Mexico).
Guayaquil has been awarded as the best destination in previous years. In 2020 the city was recognized for the first time as South America’s Leading City Destination 2020 and South America’s Leading Meetings and Conference Destination 2020.
In 2019 it was awarded for the fourth consecutive year as South America’s Leading City Tourist Board 2019 for the fourth consecutive year and received for the second consecutive year the World Travel Award as the 2019 South America’s Leading Destination for Festivals and Events (South America’s Leading Festival & Event Destination 2019).
