He Government plans, before the end of the year, to send to Congress a bill for the creation of special economic zones (SEZ) with the aim of attracting investments from the most important technology companies in the world, according to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contreras.
“We want to send a proposal for the creation of special economic zones that allow us to attract investment, for important companies such as Huawei and tesla to produce from Peru,” he mentioned on Radio Nacional.
It should be noted that in Peru there are currently 4 special economic zones in operation: Zofratacna (Tacna), Zed Paita (Piura), Zed Ilo (Moquegua) and Zed Matarani (Arequipa).
Emphasis on employment
The minister also highlighted that in recent months the Executive has sent the new contracting law and the reform of the Pension System to the Legislature and that the sending of the proposal to simplify tax regimes is still pending.
In addition, he announced that next year they will prioritize encouraging employability in the country. “Next year, in the first quarter agenda, when the legislature begins, we must propose a strategy to accelerate employment, offer incentives for the creation of more jobs and improve the employability of young people,” he said.
