Electricity consumption does not increase. The maximum demand of the plants that make up the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN) registered by the COES as of September 2023 was 7,374 MW.
According to the Prospective of the electricity sector at the national level – October 2023, said record was presented on Thursday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. This, in turn, was barely 1% higher than that recorded in September of last year.
“To date, the highest value recorded so far this year continues to be 7,606 MW, the same amount that corresponds to the maximum demand for the month of April,” the report stated.
It should be noted that, in July, the maximum daily demand for electricity in Peru was 7,280 MW; while, in August, this figure reached 7,290 MW.

Regarding the projections of this indicator for the end of 2023, in the COES calculations for the month of October, it is expected that the value of maximum demand would be around 7,771 MW (December), a value that would exceed by 4. 1% to the maximum demand that was registered in 2022.
Thus, the expected demand in the last quarter of 2023 would be: October (7,602 MW), November (7,718 MW) and December (7,771 MW), already above the pre-pandemic level.
In this sense, with the figures shown for this year the trend would show growth with an annual average of the maximum demand for the last five years that would be around 2.6% for the SEIN – COES.
