The Peruvian Government authorized the delivery of a second bonus of S/700 for artisanal fishermen, with the objective of dissipating the adverse economic effects that could be generated by climate change and the El Niño phenomenon.
Through emergency decree No. 038-2023, it is established that the subsidy will be directed to artisanal fishermen who have a current document proving said condition.
The bonus of S/700 will be granted by the National Fisheries Development Fund (Fondepes). To do this, the beneficiary must formally dedicate themselves to the artisanal fishing activity in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations of the General Fisheries Law.
In addition, it must be included in the Register of Beneficiaries of artisanal fishermen, and must not be benefiting from social programs.
The granting of the economic subsidy is carried out through the Banco de la Nación, without charging commissions or expenses to the beneficiary of the subsidy, these being the responsibility of Fondepes.
In this way, the Peruvian Government hopes to benefit some 47,500 artisanal fishermen with a total budget of S/33 million 294,100. This is the second bonus focused on this sector of the population, since the previous one was delivered in February 2023.
Fisherman’s bonus of S/700: Since when do you collect?
As established by the Executive Branch, the General Directorate of Artisanal Fisheries of the Vice-Ministerial Office of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Ministry of Production (Produce) has 20 days to prepare the Register of Beneficiaries of artisanal fishermen. That is, the deadline is December 14.
From there, 10 more days are counted until the start of the disbursement of the economic subsidy, which can be collected by artisanal fishermen until February 28, 2024.
That is, in the best of cases, the S/700 fisherman’s bonus could begin to be collected this Monday, November 27. But, in the worst scenario, the start of collection of the subsidy would occur, at the latest, December 28.
