Until this Thursday, November 23, the deadline for the registration of domestic producers in the National Production Register, which came into force after publication in the Official Register on February 22 of this year, expires.

According to the vice-president of the Ministry of Production and Industry, the data published by the manufacturers will enable the determination of the capacity and production offer of the national industry.

To date, more than 1,800 companies have been registered and have submitted almost 18,500 declarations. Sectors that stand out are textiles, construction services, metal processing, food, pharmaceuticals, but also industries that generate goods and services.

“More than 9.5 billion dollars of investment contracts in two and a half years, despite the difficulties”, emphasizes Daniel Legarda on the last day of the Government

The deputy of the Ministry of Production and Industry indicated that the information published by the manufacturers will serve as input for the establishment of the “Basics of the National Industry until 2023”, which will become a source of official consultation for the public and private sectors, “a basis that does not exist to date. “

In this context, he explained that with this data they want to strengthen institutional management related to the generation of public policies and trade negotiation processes. In addition, he noted that it will contribute to academia so that students and researchers can have information for their projects, analysis and other related activities.

They will also create a catalog of domestic products and producers that will enable them to become visible because it will be published in the official communication channels of the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries and will be available for direct consultation. The state portfolio “will keep a reserve of information that is not related to the identification of the manufacturer and the production offer”.

The vice ministry stated that the National Production Register is a document that is required of all bidders and suppliers of the state, regardless of their economic activity, whether they are suppliers of goods or services, while it does not refer to those suppliers of the state who only perform the economic activity of trading products ( goods and/or services) they provide.

Likewise, he explained that those who are not state suppliers must present their declarations of national producers if they perform activities that are marked with the letter C in the Manufacturing industry sector in the International Standard Industrial Classification ISIC Rev. 4.

Also those who are in the information and communication sector identified with the letter J in the International Standard Industrial Classification ISIC Rev. 4, for the latter, it specifically applies to those who perform their economic activities in groups J58, J59 and J62.

For those who have not registered, the Ministry will establish a procedure because it is a “mandatory provision”. According to the entity, it is important to take into account that the National Public Procurement Service has included the National Register of Production as an element that must be presented by all state suppliers.

Although the invitation is until November 23, the vice ministry said that they are considering extending the deadline. Those who wish to register must go to www.produccion.gob.ec/registro-de-produccion-nacional-rpn/.
