With a $ 3.3 million investment, Innovando Amazonia seeks to bring 18 ventures to national supermarket shelves

The project, which expects to reach $ 8 million in purchase intentions, will be operated by IICA with the strategic support of the AEI.

With an initial investment of $ 3.3 million was launched in Puyo, Pastaza province, the project Innovating Amazon, through which it is expected to train around 300 producers.

This will allow to promote the productive development of the region in a sustainable way, respecting the territorial, environmental and cultural resources.

Alfonso Abdo, Undersecretary of MSMEs and Crafts of the Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries, stressed that the training and the project will be carried out based on a market-oriented work.

He added that 18 entrepreneurs and associations that are within the project were evaluated to receive financial support, but they will also receive technical support that will allow them to market in the national chains of retail their products.

“That is the great support that we want to give from the Ministry of Production, from the Government; that we can all move forward, all together generate prosperity, “said the official during the launch of the project, which has the support of the Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (AEI) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).

Andrés Zurita, Executive Director of AEI, highlighted the joint work between the public, private and academic sectors.

“This does public-private, academic work and the result is wealth, it is entrepreneurs who have a different way of seeing the world, entrepreneurs who access financing and become bankrolled, and that is what we hope will happen in the Innovando Amazonia project” Zurita expressed.

The $ 3.3 million budget will be delivered by the Amazon Technical Secretariat. The project will be operated by IICA and it is expected to reach $ 8 million in purchase intentions and generate 300 new jobs.

The ventures have to do with products such as paiche, non-traditional fruits, beef cattle, guayusa, vegetables, tilapia, spices, among others.

The first step of the project will be to link these entrepreneurs with specialized national markets, it was detailed during the launch.

“As soon as people get to know them, if this reaches supermarket shelves, this is going to be very successful,” he said. Juan Pablo Grijalva, general manager of El Ordeño.
