December bonus: how to calculate the amount and until when can it be deposited?

The bonus is an economic labor benefit that workers receive, the amount of which will depend on the number of days you have worked in the same company. They are not affected by discounts received from the salary such as the pension or insurance system.

Since Christmas is almost there, we detail who receives the bonus and until when companies have a deadline to deposit it, this way you can better organize your expenses.

Christmas bonus: which workers receive it?

Law No. 27735 states that the bonus is an extra amount to the monthly salary received by workers in the private regime with an indefinite, fixed-term or part-time contract in the months of July and December.

However, in the case of small companies, employees are entitled to half a bonus in July and half a bonus in December, according to Supreme Decree 013-2013-PRODUCE.

How to calculate the amount I will receive as a bonus?

The calculation of the bonus must be done taking into account the following criteria: salary + family allowance (if applicable) + bonus (9% from Essalud or 6.75% EPS).

For example, if a person has a contract since July 1, 2023, earns a salary of S/2,000 and belongs to EsSalud, they will receive a bonus of S/2,180, in addition to their December remuneration. If you receive a family allowance, the amount of S/102.5, 10% of the minimum wage, will be added.

To access the full bonus, the worker must have worked during the six months prior to December and the salary in force until November 30 will be taken into account.

Until when can this Christmas benefit be deposited?

Sunafil points out that medium and large companies have until December 15 to deposit the bonus, otherwise, the company may receive a fine of up to S/129,294, according to the company’s labor regime.
