UNMSM organizes forum on “Geopolitics and Chinese investments in Peru”

The Faculty of Economic Sciences of the UNMSM organizes the event “Geopolitics and Chinese Investments in Peru”, which will address the growing economic, political and technological importance of Popular China worldwide, in Latin America and in particular in Peru.

The meeting will feature the participation of professor and researcher Carlos Aquino, Director of the Center for Asian Studies; the international researcher and analyst Humberto Campodónico; and the economist Jorge Manco, Director of CERSEU.

China is the second largest economy in the world, the most populous country in the world, which combines the participation of the state with the market, which is destined to be the first hegemonic power in the coming decades, displacing the United States, Japan and Germany.

“Since the first decade of the 21st century, the Chinese economy has become the main source of manufacturing exports worldwide, in the main market of Latin America, Africa, Asia; and in particular, Chinese investments have a growing presence in sectors of the Peruvian economy such as mining, oil and energy, mainly with significant profit margins,” explains Manco Zaconetti.

Chinese capital in alliance with transnational companies of recognized prestige are making strong investments in the megaport of Chancay through the company Cosco Shipping Ports Chancay Perú SA, displacing the cargo of exports and imports in this part of the world.

The event will take place this Tuesday, November 21 at 11 am in the facilities of the Graduate Hall of the Faculty of Economic Sciences (Old location), in the University City.

“Entry is free upon registration and certificates of attendance will be granted within the framework of the social responsibility and university extension policies promoted by the UNMSM, the Dean of America,” the event states.
