At the end of December and the beginning of January, Multicines should open its doors in San Marino Shopping, in the north of Guayaquil, where a black advertising canvas reads in large letters: “SOON!” It is the same area where Supercines is located, a chain that ceased operations in that shopping center at the end of July last year.
Meanwhile, the grand opening of this complex is part of the announced expansion of the cinema chain, which announced this Friday, November 10, that it had bought the Cinemark and Five Star Cinemas (Cinext) chains.
“With this transaction, Multicines strengthens its market share and consolidates itself as a leading reference in the film exhibition industry in Ecuador,” Multicines said in a statement published this Friday.
Multiplexes will be in six cities in Ecuador with the purchase of two cinema brands: Cinemark and Cinext will remain only for a few more weeks
According to the records of the General Directorate, the sale of Cinemark International and the purchase of Rialt Holdings took place on September 25 of this year, while the sale of Rialt Holdings and the purchase of Multiplex Cinemas were recorded on October 18.
