This Friday, November 10th, it announced that it is now located in the Village Plaza shopping center, on the same road to Samborondón as its first Moderna Plaza location. On November 1, they opened in San Marino, and in addition, there are now three brand establishments. And the fourth location is being prepared in Mall del Norte, a new shopping center in Guayaquil that has been in operation for two months.

Krispy Kreme entered Ecuador with a strong branding campaign that gave away its donuts for free in various parts of the city for weeks before its first opening, and after a study that showed them how much Ecuadorians have a sweet tooth.

Krispy Kreme’s director of international operations, Miguel Méndez, commented that a study was conducted to reach Ecuador, which included market visits. They started doing it a year and a half or two years ago. “We did studies on how many sweet bread shops (there are in Ecuador), we saw a pretty high volume that let us know that consumers like sweet bread, and then when we started testing the donuts, they served what we thought.”
Krispy Kreme opens its first location in Ecuador with an initial investment of $1 million and plans to open 4 more before the end of 2023.
This is the second country in South America where the brand arrives, after Chile, where they had four stores open since last April, and in 2023 they also opened facilities in Costa Rica, Jamaica, Switzerland and others. Globally, the brand has more than 13,000 stores worldwide.
